What is PolyScan?
PolyScan is a free library of high-quality PBR (Physically Based Rendering) textures and 3D models released under CC0 license. We offer 200+ seamless textures and 3D models in up to 8K resolution, including brick, stone, wood, concrete, metal, fabric, and more. All assets are completely free for commercial use without attribution required, making PolyScan ideal for game developers, 3D artists, architects, and visual effects professionals using Blender, Unreal Engine, Unity, or other 3D software.
Is PolyScan really 100% free?
Yes! Every single asset on PolyScan is completely free. There are no hidden costs, no premium tiers, no subscriptions, and no "freemium" model. You can download as many assets as you need without ever paying a cent.
PolyScan is supported through optional Patreon donations and advertising, which allows us to keep everything free for everyone while continuing to add new content regularly.

What is the CC0 license?
CC0 (Creative Commons Zero) is a public domain license that gives you complete freedom to use assets without any restrictions. When we release assets under CC0, we waive all our copyrights and related rights, essentially placing the work in the public domain worldwide.
This means you can use, modify, distribute, and sell PolyScan textures in any way you want - even commercially - without asking permission or providing attribution. It's the most permissive license possible.
Can I use PolyScan textures in commercial games and apps?
Absolutely! PolyScan's CC0 license explicitly allows commercial use without any restrictions. You can use our textures in commercial games (mobile, PC, console), apps, architectural visualizations, VR/AR experiences, films, product renderings, NFTs, or any other commercial project. There are no royalties, no revenue sharing, no requirement to credit us (though we always appreciate it), and no need to ask permission. You own your final work completely.
Do I need to credit PolyScan when using textures?
No, attribution is not required under our CC0 license. You're free to use our textures without crediting us.
That said, we always appreciate it when creators mention PolyScan in their credits or share their work with us! It helps other artists discover free resources and motivates us to keep adding more content.
Can I modify and redistribute PolyScan textures?
Yes! Under the CC0 license, you have complete freedom to modify, remix, edit, and even redistribute PolyScan textures. You can adjust colors, combine multiple textures, create variations, package them in your own asset packs, or sell them as part of a larger work. The only thing you cannot do is claim that you created the original unmodified texture from scratch. Everything else is fair game under CC0.

How do I download textures from PolyScan?
Downloading is extremely simple: (1) Browse our asset library at polyscann.com/assets, (2) Click on any texture or 3D model you like to view details, (3) Choose your preferred resolution (1K, 2K, 4K, or 8K), (4) Click the download button - that's it! No registration, no email signup, no waiting. Your download starts immediately. You can download as many assets as you need for your projects with no limits.
Do I need to create an account?
No! Unlike many texture libraries, PolyScan offers completely anonymous downloads. You don't need to register, provide an email address, or log in. Simply browse, click download, and start using the assets immediately. We believe in making high-quality 3D resources accessible to everyone without barriers or data collection.
Are there any download limits?
No, there are no download limits! You can download as many textures as you need, whenever you need them. Some other free sites impose daily limits or require registration after a certain number of downloads - we don't. Download your entire project's worth of textures in one session if you want.
What resolution options are available?
Most PolyScan textures are available in multiple resolutions: 1K (1024x1024), 2K (2048x2048), 4K (4096x4096), and 8K (8192x8192). This lets you choose based on your project requirements - use 8K for high-end architectural renders and close-ups, or 2K for game assets where file size matters. Not all textures are available in all resolutions, but we're constantly upgrading our library to offer more high-resolution options.
Technical Questions
What PBR maps are included with each texture?
Each PolyScan texture set includes all the essential PBR maps you need for physically accurate rendering: Diffuse/Albedo (base color without lighting), Normal Map (surface detail and bump information), Roughness Map (how glossy or matte the surface is), Metallic Map (which parts of the surface are metallic), and Ambient Occlusion (adds depth and shadow detail). Some textures also include displacement/height maps for extreme detail. All maps are perfectly aligned and ready to use together in any PBR workflow.
Are the textures seamlessly tileable?
Yes! The vast majority of PolyScan textures are seamlessly tileable, meaning you can repeat them across large surfaces without visible seams or repetition patterns. This is essential for creating large floors, walls, terrains, and other continuous surfaces in your 3D scenes. We take great care to ensure clean, seamless edges on all our tileable textures.
What file formats do you provide?
Textures are provided in standard image formats that work with all 3D software: PNG (lossless, supports transparency), JPG/JPEG (smaller file sizes), and sometimes EXR (high dynamic range for advanced rendering). For 3D models, we provide FBX, OBJ, and sometimes BLEND files. All formats are industry-standard and compatible with virtually any 3D application.
Software Compatibility
What 3D software works with PolyScan textures?
PolyScan textures are compatible with ALL major 3D software and game engines: Blender (2.8 and newer), Unreal Engine (UE4 and UE5), Unity (2019 and newer), 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, Houdini, Substance Painter, V-Ray, Corona Renderer, Octane Render, Redshift, Arnold, and many more. Our PBR texture maps follow industry standards and work seamlessly with any software that supports physically-based rendering workflows.
Can I use PolyScan textures in Blender?
Absolutely! PolyScan textures work perfectly in Blender. Simply import our PBR maps into Blender's Principled BSDF shader: connect Diffuse to Base Color, Normal to Normal (with a Normal Map node), Roughness to Roughness, Metallic to Metallic, and optionally AO to a mix node for added depth.
For even easier workflow, many Blender users create a simple node group to load all our maps at once, or use add-ons that automate PBR texture importing.
Do PolyScan textures work in Unreal Engine?
Yes! PolyScan textures are ideal for Unreal Engine (both UE4 and UE5). Import our texture maps into UE, create a Material, and connect: Base Color, Normal, Roughness, Metallic, and Ambient Occlusion. Our textures follow Unreal's PBR conventions perfectly. Many game developers use PolyScan as their go-to source for environment textures in UE projects because our seamless tiles work great for landscapes and architectural materials.
Can I use these textures in Unity?
Yes! PolyScan textures work great in Unity (2019 and newer versions with the Universal Render Pipeline or HD Render Pipeline). Import our texture maps into Unity, create a new Material using the Standard Shader or Lit Shader (HDRP), and assign: Albedo, Normal Map, Metallic/Smoothness (note: Unity uses Smoothness instead of Roughness, so you may need to invert), and optionally Ambient Occlusion. Our seamless textures are perfect for Unity terrain, buildings, props, and environments.

Each category includes multiple variations with different colors, weathering levels, and styles.

What if I have issues with an asset?

How often do you add new assets?
We add new textures and 3D models regularly, typically several new assets each week. Follow us or check back frequently to discover new materials. Patreon supporters get early access to new releases before they're made public.
